As some of you know, I can be ridiculous, crazy, over the top. I can usually put it away and pull it out when necessary, but sometimes it's beyond my control. A few weeks ago after a meeting with our students in IMPACT, our discipleship group for jr high and highschoolers, I couldn't stop calling the kids tiny homies. I also couldn't stop laughing about it. First, they think it's funny that I say homies because I'm "old" and white. Second, they all think I'm weird but love me anyway. Anyway, the name has stuck and now every student is a tiny homie to me.
The most hilarious thing about it is watching some of the kids get frustrated by it. Some of the boys get a little irritated because they think I don't understand that I am shorter and smaller than them. I know it's one of those things where you have to be there, but it's so funny to hear them try to explain to me how they are bigger than me. "But Katie, we are BIGGER than you. We can't be your TINY homies." Oh yes, sir, yes you can.
I haven't stopped calling them tiny homies. Now they understand they just have to deal with it. Secretly, I think they like it.
And to me, they are my tiny homies....my little babies that are learnin' to love Jesus. I'd much rather be called tiny homie than a little baby....
