This week has been a whirlwind of delight.
On Saturday morning I hopped on a plane and flew to San Francisco where I spent the afternoon with one of my oldest, sweetest friends. It was a very sweet treat and I loved being with her. I loved getting to see and experience where and how she lives. Our time together was too short. But a weekend visit is coming!
Saturday evening Leslee arrived in San Francisco. She picked me up and we headed south. Home, to my home. Los Angeles. We've spent the week touristing, eating, and laughing. Les learned to longboard. Experienced Jerry's Famous Deli, longboarding in Manhattan Beach, Yogurtland, Hollywood Boulevard, The Getty Museum, and the world's most incredible doughnuts from Stan's. Seriously, if you're in LA and you like doughnuts, you need to go to Stan's. Please get The Huell. You will not be disappointed. We made chocolate chip cookies and Ree's Jalapeno Poppers. [Please note, we made the ones from her cookbook which include cheddar cheese and green onion in the cream cheese, and you brush them with BBQ sauce before baking.] We went shopping in Burbank's thrift stores and ate dinner in Old Town Pasadena.
Seriously, we ate and ate and ate. I wonder how much weight I gained?
But today it all comes to a close... back to reality. My heart is so heavy. I have a huge lump in my throat and feel like I've been on the verge of tears all morning. It never, ever gets any easier saying good bye to her...and it probably never will.
